| Abstract | ||
The trends towards sustainability, improved safety of FMCG products, and high quality standards are essential in all areas of business sector. In order to satisfy these requirements, active and intelligent packaging is used in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). Active and Intelligent packaging covers smart packaging of any product. It uses sensor technology on packaging to highlight the information of product, and monitors the quality changes in a product or its environment. Since FMCG products are used in our day to day life, any change in the quality of a product or its environment directly affect the health of human beings. Thus proper monitoring on these products is a kind need, which is fulfilled by smart packaging. There are different methods of smart packaging which uses base technologies or advanced technologies to sustain the product quality and provide consumer’s satisfaction. New business opportunities are provided by smart packaging based on digital ecosystem. Furthermore advancement in the research in the area of smart product packaging is required to fill research gap for the successful adoption of smart packaging. |
