Abstract

A student of primary class has more than 15 books and only 8 months to read those books. So both the teachers and students just wanted to finish their syllabus not to understand the books. although our government have initiated a new step to reduce the size of bags of children by making NCERT books mandatory but it does not made any change but worse the situation as schools have started using NCERT as well as their own syllabus. Our education system makes a child bookish and does not focus on his overall personality development, children does not take interest in studies and consider school going as a punishment because the method of teaching in schools is boring and does not create interest in students. Syllabus in school is too lengthy that the students just want to complete the syllabus and not to understand the content of books. Students do not know how to study books and even in schools no one teaches how to study. Many Students read the books just to pass the examination and not to understand the books. Students mainly depend upon extra tuitions for completing their syllabus and reading the important questions to pass the exam which creates a question mark on Schools. So there is need of some changes in the education system to improve the quality of education such as modern techniques of education should be adopted, more emphasis should be given to practical rather than theory etc.
