Knowledge of rural higher secondary students towards vocational education : A survey

| Abstract | ||
In this survey, knowledge of rural higher secondary students towards vocational education was analysed. The study area of the present study was Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. To conduct the study 1000 higher secondary students from class XI and XII were selected as sample. To selection of subjects was randomly carried out in five block i.e. Fingeshwar, Deobhog, Mainpur, Chura and Gariaband respectively. Knowledge of rural higher secondary students towards vocational education was assessed with the help of self structured questionnaire. Results reveal that majority of the respondents are well aware of concept of vocational education but majority of them are unaware about counselling and advice available for vocational education. The results also reveal that majority of the respondents chose subject for vocational education according to their interest but they have no idea about employment related opportunities of vocational education. The opinion of respondents on vocational education as a strong means for earning their livelihood are somewhat mixed. It was concluded that higher secondary students from rural areas of Chhattisgarh are well aware about concept of vocational education but needs to be counselled about the benefits of vocational education in terms of future livelihood. |
