| Abstract | ||
The world has been in flux for nearly two decades. The end of cold war and the rise of US brought the paradigm shifts in the global political settings. A new world order was proclaimed. Indian foreign policy has equally undergone several shifts from independence to Non-alignment to alignment and again has taken a new turn to aspire for global power and global reach. India has with the help of its dynamic foreign policy achieved a credible status not only within its own neighborhood but it equally has influenced the global political scenario. Political stability and peaceful political transitions at the domestic level have immensely contributed and brought dynamism in its foreign policy. Despite all this the past of Indian foreign policy has experienced many ups and downs and the present too is seriously facing many upheavals and the future of foreign policy is also fraught with many serious security and non-security challenges most importantly within its backyard. The present paper will analyze India’s neighborhood policy and the challenges emerging from its neighbors. India can’t afford to have disturbed neighborhood and therefore resolution of bilateral issues is important to aspire for global power. The paper will examine the India’s neighborhood policy as its stable neighborhood is imperative and prerequisite for its stability progress and perpetual peace. |
