| Abstract | ||
If we look at what the school education system has done in the last decades, perhaps we have much to be satisfied with. The present world is witnessing a number of environmental crises, which are the result of the un-mindful exploitation of natural resources by human being. There is an urgent need to create environmental awareness among all human beings to conserve, protect and nurture our environmental resources. It is everyone’s responsibility to educate and train the future citizens of the world on the issue of global warming and climate change. Possibility of advancement in the right direction to check climate change is possible if the endurable and responsible efforts of the students and teachers are channeled sensibly by providing the knowledge of climate change to pupils. The teachers and the student teachers can do so if they themselves are aware of the problems and consequences of climate change and global warming. For this purpose, environmental education can be included in school curriculum right from the very beginning. Education is supposed to encourage the students to analyse and evaluate their experiences, to doubt, to question, to investigate – in other words, to be inquisitive and to think independently. |
