Abstract

A form of precipitation with acidic components, such as sulfuric or nitric acid, that falls to the ground from the atmosphere is known as acid rain, or acid deposition. There are many types of acid rain, including rain, snow, fog, hail, and even dust that is acidic. Acid rain is caused by the release of compounds like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere. In India, the first report of acid rain came from Bombay in 1974, when these substances mixed with water, oxygen, and other chemicals to produce acidic pollutants, known as acid rain. They can rise very high into the atmosphere, where they mix with water, oxygen, and other chemicals. In some parts of India, like the northeast, coastal regions of Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, and Bihar and West Bengal, soil pH has been reported to be lowered.
