Socio economic Status of Urban Pedal Rickshaw Pullers after the Introduction of E rickshaw

For so long time the unskilled poor people had the easiest choice of taking pedal rickshaw pulling as their profession. But after the introduction of e-rickshaw as the urban short distance means of transport it became popular to the short distance passengers due to its cheaper fare and higher speed than the pedal rickshaw and as a result the pedal rickshaw pullers life became miserable. The present study is a short attempt to investigate the present socio-economic status of those pedal rickshaw pullers after the introduction of e-rickshaw. For this purpose a questionnaire is prepared to investigate the socio-economic status of the pedal rickshaw pullers and sample survey method is followed by the researcher to collect data about their socio-economic status depending upon a sample of size 20. The data is then analyzed to understand their socio-economic status. The result shows a very miserable condition of the pedal rickshaw pullers.
