Abstract

The study explores the role of Media in promoting good governance in democratic states. This descriptive and analytical study intends to review the findings from relevant literatures. The objectives of the study are: to understand the role of free media in promoting good-governance; to recognize the way of Media empowerment in democratic states and to trace out general barriers of mass-media. The study also indicated some other factors apart from free media operations which also contribute welfare of the citizens and promote good governance. But the main theme of good governance explored by literatures, is promoted only by free media practices in a democratic states. The study specified clear relations between free media and good governance in democratic states. Finally, the main contribution to good governance is supported by several significant research studies which explored strong effects on promoting good governance in democratic states around the globe.
