Work Life Balance and Job Satisfaction among Nurses Working In Private Healthcare Units in Ludhiana

Abstract

The cardinal aim of the present study was to assess the level of work-life balance and job satisfaction among male and females nurses in private healthcare units. Further, the study strived to explore the relationship between independent variable (work life balance) and dependent variable (job satisfaction). The study consist a sample of 172 nurses selected from different private healthcare units in Ludhiana through simple random sampling technique. For assessment purpose Job satisfaction scale constructed by Paul, Specter (1994) and Work life balance scale constructed by Hayman 92005) was used. For the statistical analysis of data mean, standard deviation, frequency distribution, t-test, and correlation analysis was applied by through SPSS 20.0 version. The findings illustrated that majority of nurses are dissatisfied with their jobs. Further the findings show that female nurses are more satisfied with their jobs than male nurses, also nurses belongs to joint families are more satisfied with their jobs than those nurses belongs to nuclear families. Significant differences were found in work life balance and job satisfaction with respect to gender and family type. The research also shows positive relationship between work life balance and job satisfaction.
