Socio – Economic Demographic Profile of the Labourers: A Study on Co-Operative Sugar Mills on Punjab

In an era, when there was need for inclusive growth, the sugar industry was amongst the few industries that have successfully contributed to the Indian economy, particularly rural economy. At present, sugar industry is second largest agro-based industry in India after cotton textile industry and for working in any industry labour is the most important factor amongst all. The socio-economic conditions and working environment greatly affects production. The present paper deals with studying the socio-economic profile and demographic features of the labourers engaged in Co-operative Sugar Mills in Punjab.
