| Abstract | ||
This paper is an attempt to portray the contribution of Tej Bahadur Sapru in Indian independence. As a liberal by temperament preferring moderate change within legal framework, he worked vigorously for constitutional demands and more autonomy to the Indians. The article describes the approaches and actions of Sapru in handling the political atmosphere of the country in pre-independence phase. He followed a liberal ideology and act as a negotiator between the British Government and Indian leaders and sometimes between extremists and moderates to reinstate the political progress. Sapru was a fervent and unflinching advocate of liberal constitutional structure and benevolent analyst to clear the political deadlock. The work precisely mentions the political service of Sapru in Indian national movement and the methods and tactics he undertook to express his perspective in a novel mode during nationalist phase. |
