| Abstract | ||
Polarimetric observations of comets provide valuable insights into the nature, size, composition, and structure of cometary dust grains. This review summarizes the current understanding of the polarization properties of comets, focusing on observational results, phase-angle dependence, wavelength dependence, gas contamination effects, circular polarization, and modeling efforts. Comparative studies of various comets are discussed, highlighting differences in dust characteristics and their implications for cometary evolution. Future prospects for comet polarimetry, including multi-wavelength observations and interstellar comet studies, are outlined. |
