Abstract

The disease may be defined as a disorder in a human body caused by infection, diet or by faulty functioning of a process. Deficiency diseases are infected due to deficiency of nutrients. Nutritional deficiency is mainly due to the poor economic condition, illiteracy, lack of sufficient food and negligence about health. The present study deals with the distribution of deficiency diseases in the rural area of the study region. The data regarding the number of cases reported for various deficiency diseases during the reference period has been collected from all PHC regions of the district. The collected data has been analyzed to decide the intensity rate and morbidity index with the help of appropriate statistical methods. The study clearly reveals that major group of the rural population in the district is deficit in various nutrients and fall pray to the nutritional diseases.
