| Abstract | ||
The sanctuary has a high biodiversity of birds with 164 species already identified .The Raiganj Bird Sanctuary is a mixed breeding heronry of various species of water-birds including Little Cormorant Phalacrocoraxniger, Indian Shag P. fuscicillis, Black-crowned Night-Heron Nycticoraxnycticorax, Cattle Egret Bubulcus ibis, Little Egret Egrettagarzetta, Large Egret Casmerodiusalbus, Median Egret Mesophoyxintermedia and Pond Heron ArdeolaGrayii, alongside a very large number of breeding Asian Open- bill Storks. |
