Abstract

The college years are a developmentally crucial period when students make the transition from late adolescence to emerging adulthood. Moreover, mental health problems are very common among college students. The present study is a humble attempt to investigate the levels of mental health of college students in the State of Telangana. Further,it delineates the mental health of college students in the State of Telangana in relation to locality. A sample of eight hundred graduate students was randomly selected from Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts of Telangana State. The standardized Mental Health Inventory developed by Dr.Jagadish and A.K.Srivastava(2003) was utilized for the present study. The results demonstrated that a scintillating majority of the sample found to possess moderate levels of mental health and the variable locality had a significant impact on mental health of college students. Implications as well as suggestions for further research were also explicated.
