| Abstract | ||
Malda is one of the major districts in West Bengal as well as India. Total connection between North Bengal and South Bengal is conducted through this District. Therefore many service sectors like communication, trade, transport, resort etc. are played to form new employment of works. The district is mainly based on agriculture. Although many factories , business sectors etc are developed in urban area, but high population growth makes the disparity in work participation rate. A study of the level and structure of workers, which shows the work participation rates, changes in workforce of agriculture and non-agriculture sector and growth and changes in workforce by different industrial categories, of any economically significant in several ways. The present study is an attempt to study the level and structure of workers in Malda district of West Bengal using census data for the period 2001-2011 which will provide an understanding of the structural changes taking place in the economy of the district in the post reforms era. |
