Abstract

The rapid emergence of Information Technology (IT) hubs in Indian cities has transformed urban landscapes and created significant employment opportunities. However, the accelerated urban growth has often led to inadequate housing facilities for IT employees, resulting in overcrowding, high rent burdens, and long commuting hours. These housing challenges contribute to psychological stress, anxiety, and reduced job satisfaction, ultimately affecting employee performance and well-being. This study investigates the psychological impact of inadequate housing on IT professionals, analysing factors such as mental health, work-life balance, and coping mechanisms. Through surveys and interviews conducted across major IT hubs like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune, the research identifies key stressors associated with living conditions and assesses their correlation with productivity and organizational outcomes. The study emphasizes the need for integrated urban planning, affordable housing policies, and workplace interventions to enhance the psychological well-being and efficiency of IT employees in rapidly expanding cities.
