Tulaipanji is an indigenous aromatic rice mainly cultivated in Raiganj sub division of Uttar Dinajpur district. Through this research paper, I am trying to give a detailed idea about the Tulaipanji rice cultivation in different regions of Uttar Dinajpur district. In this region another common name for Tulaipanji rice is Tulai. Usually people in rural areas call the Tulaipanji rice as Tulai. It is said that century-old Tulaipanji rice cultivation originated in this region. Gradually for the aroma and taste of this rice gradually the cultivation of this rice spread to different parts of the surrounding district. The paddy is planted after cutting the jute in mid to high land. Most of the farmer prefers to use only organic fertilizer for Tulaipanji rice cultivation. Tulaipanji rice is famous in all over India for its unique aroma and unparalleled taste. From this research it is also revealed that the price of Tulaipanji is very lower than such other famous aromatic rice in India. There is a big conspiracy behind it. Some unscrupulous traders mix one type of fine and non aromatic rice with Tulaipanji rice and sell it as original Tulaipanji rice. As a result, people are losing their trust on this rice. Keeping in mind the quality of this rice, we have to keep trying to find out how to increase the production further. This rice has to be spread to every people in the globe. For all of this requires a lot of research work on this famous aromatic rice. |
