| Abstract | ||
Permanent Settlement introduced by Lord Cornawalish brought a radical change in land settlement. This settlement invited a great bad impact. The zaminders and the paiks rose with grievance losing their rights on their land. The Chuar Rebellion was the outcome of this grievance. The Chuar Rebellion created a panic in the minds of the rulers. From this point of view the Chuar Rebellion was the organised uprising of the land holders, farmers and paiks. This rebellion embarrassed the company. So, the oppression due to the neo land revenue got postponed and it encouraged the rebellion later. |
