Abstract

This article explores environmental philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji who was the founder of Sikhism and a great spiritual leader. He composed a stupendous number of verses to teach humanity spiritualism and harmonious living. His verses reveal awareness of the ecological balance and presence of the Creator in all forms of nature. Humans and nonhumans find equal space in his ecological world where all species and elements have been venerated. His philosophy and ecological concern become much relevant in the contemporary times when man-induced ecological crisis has crossed dangerous limits and modern ecocritical thought has emphasized on recognising the sacred relation between human beings and the environment to preserve the planet Earth.
