This research article investigates the complex relationship between mental disorders and artistic creativity. While the correlation between mental health disorders and creativity has been a topic of great interest for a considerable period of time and debate, empirical evidence remains fragmented and inconclusive. This study aims to provide a comprehensive review of existing literature and conduct a meta-analysis to elucidate the nature and extent of this relationship. Drawing upon a diverse range of sources, including psychological studies, biographical accounts, and artistic productions, we explore the prevalence of mental disorders among artists, the potential mechanisms underlying this association, and the impact of mental health interventions on artistic output. Our findings offer insights into the interplay between psychological factors and creative expression, with implications for both mental health treatment and artistic practice. |
