Does Recognition Works at Workplace in Indian Organizations? A Speculative View

| Abstract | ||
The purpose of this study was to assess literature to examine how recognition is important at workplace. The study used a theoretical approach and focused on how different authors interpreted and responded to the role of recognition at work place. While coming to the bottom of interpretations, the findings of a number of research articles were taken into consideration. The findings of the study showed that, recognition improves performance in respect of top performers. Focussing on recognition for employee achievements performance excellence gives better results. Wages in larger establishments did not reflect productivity because of high costs and firm-specific skill differences. Employee's achievement can be celebrated by organizations when they receive recognition. There was positive impact of recognition on employee performance, productivity, as well as company profits. Recognition has been seen as the most significant non-monetary incentive that raised employees' performance. Employee motivation is at its highest when they have plenty of prospects for advancement, cordial relationships with their co-workers, cooperative bosses and a sense of growth within the company. |
