| Abstract | ||
Chitradurga district is located in the Indian state of Karnataka. The History of this region starts with the presence of habitats of mankind during Palaeolithic, Neolithic, Mesolithic and Megalithic ages. Various rock paintings and rock carvings of Chalco-lithic age were also found in this region. The explorations carried out in the places like Talya and Janakallu in Chitradurga district revealed artefacts belonging to Old stone age. Middle stone age sites were also discovered at Bramhagiri, Nunkimale, Halekere etc. Robert Bruce Foot discovered crude hand axes and other impliments from Talya and Janakallu in Chitradurga district. |
