| Abstract | ||
In Patriarchal Society the status of women were considered subordinate to men which reflects lack of empowerment of women and they are unable to take part in the decision making process on an equal footing with men. Our constitution provides the Gender Equality and in the preamble of constitution was enshrined under fundamental rights, fundamental duties and directive principles. The Constitution not only grants equality of women but also empowers the state to adopt measures of positive discrimination in favour of women. The socio economic empowerment of women is the need of the hour. It will help them to more assertive creative democratic and productive in the country. Art. 19 to 22 of the Constitution deals with Personal Liberty among all the fundamental rights and these are the back bone of the rights guaranteed to the citizens of the India. Now today every law favours to the women for achieving the empowerment of women and also higher status in the society. There are so many social organizations and commissions working against exploitation of women at work place or in society or in home. It is also the necessity of the courts and the state to rectify the historical unequality that discriminated women and to protect their rights for their empowerment. Legislative action should be devised suitably to constitute economic empowerment of women in socio-economic restructure for establishing for egalitarian social order. Measures should be taken to prevent and punish the sexual harassment at work place strict enforcement of relevant laws and equal remuneration act minimum wages act improving the minimum standards of women, education, equal access to participation and decision making of women in all social economic political life of the nation and active involvement of both men and women equally and elimination of discrimination and all forms of violence against women only leads to the empowerment of women. |
