| Abstract | ||
This paper primarily intends to trace the transition of the city of Bangalore from pre modern to modernity vis-a-vis the colonial ideological project. The setting up of cantonment in Bangalore, great famine and severe epidemics set the trend of modernization and therefore it is argued in the paper that the colonial polity shaped the urban nature of the city. |
