Abstract

Analysis in Physico-Chemical properties of Maharani Lake water of West Champara, Bihar due to run off of municipal waste, drain water, non-biodegradable substances, plastics, soaps and detergent effluents, affect temperature turbidity, total solid, pH, bicarbonate total hardness, calcium hardness, magnesium hardness, chloride, nitrate, sulphate have been studied and data were analysed and discussed. Some of the parameter are well within the standard permission limits. However large variation in Mg have been observed, BOD/COD ratio have been found about to the permissible limits in every month. A large section of people are dependent on Maharani Lake water, so it was felt necessary to study the status of water quality. Sample were collected monthly and analysed as per the standard procedure.
