Access to health services is vital for the socio-economic development of a country. Peoples in every country want basic health care facilities to maintain hygienic life and to relieve from pain and suffering. The present study aims to show the health condition of Assam through different indicators like sex ratio, birth rate, infant mortality rate, life expectancy etc. as compared with North Eastern Region (NER) and India. The paper also tries to show the status of health infrastructure, health facilities and expenditure pattern on health sector in the state of Assam. The paper uses the technique of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to find the variation of different health parameters among the districts in Assam. The results reveal that there is a significant difference across districts of Assam in respect of health parameters like sanitation facilities, institutional birth in public facilities and woman being mother or pregnant at the age of 15- 19 years. |
