| Abstract | ||
Sacred grooves are forest areas which are protected by local people and domestic tribal’s. These holy sites are rich biodiversity zone and provide food, fodder, fuel, plants of medical value and other non-timber sources. It also provides shelter to many rare, threatened and vulnerable species. Deshnoke oran in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan is our current study area, which is home to numerous important plants species that must be preserved. The plants which are flourishing in this area are being negatively impacted by large number of factors such as overgrazing, over exploitation and numerous anthropogenic activities and are depleting the oran and its biodiversity. Therefore, this study provides the information on alternative measures to be taken to protect plant species unique to this region. |
