Abstract

Career choices and guidance are seen as a major challenge for young people from all sectors of urban, semi-urban and rural areas. Wisely, young people in rural areas suffer from a lack of knowledge about post-secondary education, lack of financial support, family responsibilities and other factors that affect their long-term development. Instead, this study focuses on understanding the key factors that determine the career opportunities of young people in rural Tamil Nadu. UNESCO defined the concept of youth as a transition period from childhood dependence to adult dependence, with a growing awareness of interdependence as a global member of society. Therefore, adolescence is the critical category that shapes the individual's life for a better future. The national youth policy states that young people are between 16 and 28 years old, which makes up almost 28% of the total population. The Indian government is believed to be more focused on youth development, with specific objectives for education, employment opportunities, support for skills development and the encouragement of entrepreneurship, to stimulate growth and a sustainable and efficient economy.
