Labour Migration in Karnataka-Some Issues and Challenges

Abstract

There are both economic and social imbalances among thestates in India which lead to internal migration in general. Migration of labour is a major issue, particularly in developing economies. Achieving rapid economic development is a major objective of every country. Labourers migrate normally to rainfed regions in Karnataka to earn better livelihood. Labourers also migrate from rainfed areas of Malnad to the industrial areas in the state. The youth fromthe rural areas is migrating to the non-formal sector in the cities. This paper deals with the issues and challenges of labour migration in Karnataka. Secondary sources of information are depended on in the paper.
