Abstract

Molecular phylogenetics deals with the study of evolutionary relationships amongst various species/ taxa and genes or genomic components. The Phylogenetic Tree construction depends upon the choice of the molecular data we are dealing with, whether slow evolving protein sequences or fast evolving molecular data.  High throughput genome sequencing technologies have revolutionized the way evolutionary studies could be handled across different domains of life. The accumulation of unannotated data in the biological databases has led the scientific community to mine the sequences, annotate the genomes and to compare different species for studying evolutionary relationships. However, finding the appropriate software tools for studying evolution among different species can be intriguing. This review aims to conceptually study the Phylogenetic protocols for tree construction using Molecular data that can be used to delineate molecular evolution among species/ living organisms.
