| Abstract | ||
Human lives prosper and thrive in the lap of nature. They are dependent on the services provided by nature for their well-being. The concept of well-being is not strictly defined and its components vary widely over different researchers. However, some of the components are suggested by majority of the studies. It includes both the objective and subjective well-being. Well-being of an individual cannot ensure well-being for all in the society. Sometimes individual well-being and social well-being contest each other. This paper suggests a set of well-being domains that have links with ecosystem resources. These factors affect human well-being both positively and negatively. Here, a discussion has been made about potential relationship between ecosystem services and the suggested well-being domains. Changes in ecosystem health and its impact on human well-being has been traced here. The paper shows the role of ecosystem sustainability for persistence of human well-being. |
