Abstract

Background: The Jammu & Kashmir conflict is a territorial conflict between India, Pakistan, and China. It started just after the partition of India. Anti-India slogans are raised by young generation of Kashmir. One of the objectives of social science curriculum is to promote the sense of nationalism among students. This has attracted the investigator to identify that whether the aim of promotion of sense of nationalism is being fulfilled by the social science curriculum imparted in CBSE and JKBOSE affiliated schools or not?Aim: The basic aim of the paper was to study various factors which lead students towards anti national activities. In this paper researchers will also try find out the difference in Sense of Nationalism between Students enrolled through Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) & Central Board of School Education (CBSE). Method & Procedure: The investigator has collected the data by using sense of nationalism scale developed by Kiran Lata Dangwal (2015) from both Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) & Central Board of School Education (CBSE) affiliated schools. Descriptive survey research design was followed and t-test was used in order to analyze the data. Results: The study found that Central Board of School Education (CBSE) students have more sense of nationalism than Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) students. Furthermore, study also found that students of Jammu District have slightly higher sense of nationalism than students of Kashmir District. Conclusion: The need of the hour is to modify the social science curriculum of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) so that the aim of promotion of sense of nationalism among students can be fulfilled in a time bound manner.
