Abstract

Electrodes are essential parts of electroanalytical procedures and are crucial for identifying and measuring different chemical species. In-depth analysis of electrodes, their kinds, manufacturing processes, and applications in many analytical domains is provided in this research article. The breakthroughs in electrode technology, as well as their special talents and prospective contributions to solving future analytical problems, are highlighted in the study. A set of techniques known as electroanalytical procedures is often used in analytical chemistry to identify, measure, and characterise chemical species according to their electrochemical behaviour. Electrodes, which are at the core of these methods, are essential in aiding the electron transfer reactions that take place during electrochemical processes. This research article provides a thorough examination of the field of electrodes, exploring their many kinds, production methods, and the wide range of applications they find in numerous analytical disciplines. In the study, current developments in electrode technology, including those based on nanomaterials, 3D-printed electrodes, and flexible electrodes, are highlighted. These developments improve sensitivity, selectivity, and stability, opening the door to tackling challenging analytical problems in a variety of domains. The potential of electrodes to support future analytical needs, such as real-time monitoring, on-site analysis, and integration with digital technologies for data processing and interpretation, is also discussed in the study.
