Physicochemical parameters like PH, Alkalinity, chlorides BOD, COD alkalinity, TDS total hardness, Ca+ hardness, conductivity, and TDS were analysed. For this samples were collected during October 2007 to December 2008 from the Koyali and Dumad pond near Vadodara industrial area. The higher value of total solids was obviously observed at sites. Total hardness is also very high. Hardness of water is mainly due to calcium and magnesium. High value of chlorides and BOD showed significantly higher contribution at Koyali site as compared to Dumad pond. High value of BOD and COD is a clear indication of high pollution. It can be concluded that most of the chemical parameters were above desirable limits as per who norms in study site. The long-term exposure to high concentration of these ions can lead to biomedical disturbances. |
