| Abstract | ||
The Indian subcontinent is known worldwide for its rich variety of flora, be it aromatic or medicinal plant. Madhuca indica, a plant of Indian origin having numerous therapeutic and potential benefits but due to lack of awareness it is not fully utilized. It is a medium-large deciduous tree belonging to family Sapotaceae. It can reach up to a height of 12 to 15 meter. It is a forest tree found in central and northern India, Bangladesh and Malaysia. It possesses not only nutritional benefits being rich in sugar, protein and minerals; but also have several medicinal and industrial consumption which makes this a plant of great economic potential. Thus, a study on general and chemical properties of Madhuca indica can be proved beneficial globally for a variety of aspects. |
