The relation between the Drug Addiction and Crime

| Abstract | ||
Since time immemorial we consider that alcoholism and substance intoxication have continuously plagued our society. Nowday’s alcohol and drugs too easily available which led to their rampant usage in society. It's normal as long as alcohol remains a social drink and drugs use in medicine But As an addiction it can cause of havoc. Drugs and alcoholism finish the rationality and thought process of person and person diminish is control on himself. One who is under the influence of intoxication often indulges in criminal activities. Number of cases lodged cause of intoxication normally murders, rapes, drunken drive accident etc. Criminality in number maybe attributed to mental depravity. People when lost their self control with their unbalanced or a weak mind give into the tempting of drug and alcohol and that commit crimes to fulfil their needs related to addiction. Those dependent on alcoholism and drugs are disproportionately involved in criminal activity. It has been proved that the offending trajectory of those who test positive for drugs and alcoholism is greater than test negative controls and whether the relationship is constant both prior to post drugs initiation. We consider that relationship between drugs and crime different according to gender and offence kind. Initiation of drugs and alcoholism use increased the rate ratios by 16% for males but doubled it for females. The Rate Ratios increase in Non-serious acquisitive crime was greater than that seen in grave crime. |
