Abstract

Internet addicts make the Internet a priority more important than family, friends, and work. The Internet becomes the organizing principle of addicts’ lives. There is no such specific behaviour pattern but the compulsivity to internet that determines addiction in nature. The present review study investigates the prevalence of internet addition and its association with psychopathology and emotional problems such as depression, mood disorders, social disorders, and anxiety disorders. The review suggests that individuals who suffer from depression, anxiety-disorders, social phobia, and other compulsive disorders are more likely to develop internet addiction.
