Abstract

Emergency Medical Services in India is still in its infancy and is very fragmented. An organized EMS system can play an important role in saving lives when treatable conditions are involved. Emergency situation can arise due to natural calamities or unexpected events and accidents like road or health related illness. Ambulance service is needed by those who are in dire situation but the question arises whether all the needed people are able to avail of ambulance service and facility at the right time and in right place. If the resources are not enough what will be the results? Human lives are lost and losing trust of the authorities of citizens. It will not only have an impact on human lives but also has economic impact and overall productivity of the economy. It has used secondary data for analyzing and interpretation. The present study is covers geographical area of Tamil Nadu state. The 1-0-8 emergency service has been a life saving Public Private Partnership venture with an unimaginable timely service particularly in the golden hour. It is present only in 16 states of India and two Union Territories. The rest of the country also should try to implement this scheme and the 1-0-8 should emerge as the single savior for the second most populous nation at all sorts of emergencies.
